New Store to Check Out
by WillHey guys,
Another week of cold, rain and not too much wind… Not sure what you guys have been up to, but I’ve been busy as. Trying to move house, finish my dissertation, find another job and avoid crack heads as much as possible, which often isn’t as easy as it should be. So yea, in between moving rubbish bins, selling stamps and doing home work I’ve come across one or two things to tell you guys about….
Firstly, Go Skateboarding Day.
This happens every year, and still isn’t for a week or two or three or whatever but here is a poster anyway…
So… there is also a new store in New Market that looks pretty sweet, it’s owned by BC-based brand Sitka and is their first store outside of Canada.
The New Zealand flagship store has been fashioned using almost entirely recycled materials which the team have sourced from all across Auckland including demolition yards, inorganic rubbish collections, mystic houses and even Sustainable Coastline’s coastal community rubbish pickups.
The labour used to build the shop is testament to Sitka’s ingenuity and can-do community style as those employed for daily duties on the shop floor have all had first hand involvement building and fitting out the store giving it a truly unique sense of ownership to the team. An impressive in-store example of this work is the skate section designed and built by shop employee Brett Band who is studying product design at Auckland University of Technology.
So yea, apart from all that remember to check out our sweet as deals, and of course all our other stuff because if you don’t buy it I wont be able to tel you about things!
